About Shahab Khodro
Established in 1956 under the name “Leyland Garage,” Shahab Khodro officially commenced its manufacturing operations in 1966 as “Leyland Motor Iran,” in partnership with British Leyland Motors, at Kilometer 9 of the Special Road (Karaj Road) for the assembly of trucks and buses.
As the pioneer manufacturer of municipal and urban utility vehicles in (Iran), the company annually supplies a significant portion of its production to municipalities, government organizations, and private companies. Among the company’s most notable urban and municipal vehicles produced since its inception are:
Production of Iran’s first double-decker bus
Production of approximately 70,000 Leyland Super Comet trucks until 1978, many of which are still actively operating as dump trucks across the country
Production of Iran’s first CNG-powered bus
Production of Iran’s first BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) bus
Production of Iran’s first Low-Floor (SLF) bus
Production of various specialized utility vehicles, including fire trucks, garbage compactors, sludge tankers, roll-off (hooklift) trucks, skip loaders, water tankers, and fuel transport tankers
Production of various city buses, including the high-quality 2612 city bus with high customer satisfaction rates
Production of various intercity buses, including the 3012 highway bus
Furthermore, the company features a well-organized after-sales service division named “Shahab Yar,” which supports customers in obtaining spare parts and necessary maintenance services across all regions of Iran and internationally when required.
To date, Shahab Khodro’s products have been supplied to various organizations and entities, including the Ministry of Interior, municipalities nationwide, the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, the Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services, Iran Khodro, and Saipa. Internationally, the company’s products have also been exported to Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Libya, and Syria.
Currently, the company specializes in the production of municipal service equipment, including fire trucks, garbage collection vehicles, skip loaders, car carriers, debris/waste container bodies, and water and fuel transport tankers. Another prominent product of this manufacturing complex is the electric van, which is currently utilized in numerous public and pilgrimage sites, most notably the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).
Additionally, Shahab Khodro provides specialized overhaul and restoration services for vans, buses, minibuses, and fire trucks to requesting institutions and organizations.
